NAB Asks FCC To Hold Off On 2022 Quadrennial Review Until 2018 Review Is Done
Wait Just A Darn Minute Here
The NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF BROADCASTERS is asking the FCC to hold off on the 2022 Quadrennial Regulatory Review until it gets the 2018 version done.
In a filing as part of the public comment period for the 2022 quadrennial review, the NAB asks for a "temporary toll" on the review and comment periods until the 2018 review is "expeditiously" completed. The NAB writes that "failure to timely complete the 2018 quadrennial review violates the direct mandate and clear purpose of Section 202(h)" of the Communications Act of 1996, noting that the litigation delaying completion of the prior review has concluded and that "an incomplete but still pending 2018 review also makes it challenging, if not impossible, for stakeholders to submit useful and relevant comments to inform a distinct 2022 review."

'The Bigger Picture: Choosing The Right Resources' By MC Media's Charese Fruge'
MC Media's Fruge'
There aren't alot of companies investing in resources for talent and brands these days, so most people in the business are having to invest in themselves. While it’s important to invest in the “right now,” the industry changes daily, and it’s just as important to invest in the “future.” You can’t do that if you (and the industry) are living and working in the past. Do your research, think carefully about what you spend your money on, and how much you spend on your investments.
If you are investing in your own future, make sure you are looking for coaches, and leaders who are still relevant, still somehow involved in being on the frontlines, ... more »

This Week's 'Beyond The 615': In A World Of A.I., Be Human
With A.I. gaining so much momentum right now, ALL ACCESS' TODD STACH thinks it may be time that radio doubled down on being human. In this week's "BEYOND THE 615" column, STACH suggests that voice tracking to perfection can actually sanitize the "real life" out of an on-air break.
STACH writes, "Different radio formats, PDs, and on-air talent have varying opinions of how imperfect you can be on the air. Someone who I coach wondered if clearing her throat sounded bad enough to redo the voice track. I listened and texted her back that it sounded appropriate and natural from my POV. Perfection isn’t the goal; Authenticity is."
