Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame Nominees Announced

The ROCK & ROLL HALL OF FAME FOUNDATION has announced the nominees for induction into the ROCK & ROLL HALL OF FAME in 2023. The nominees are KATE BUSH, SHERYL CROW, MISSY ELLIOTT, IRON MAIDEN, JOY DIVISION/NEW ORDER, CYNDI LAUPER, GEORGE MICHAEL, WILLIE NELSON, RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE, SOUNDGARDEN, THE SPINNERS, A TRIBE CALLED QUEST, THE WHITE STRIPES, and WARREN ZEVON.

The list includes eight first-timers (CROW, ELLIOTT, JOY DIVISION/NEW ORDER, LAUPER, MICHAEL, NELSON, THE WHITE STRIPES, ZEVON); ELLIOTT and THE WHITE STRIPES made it to nominations in their first year of eligibility.

“This remarkable list of nominees reflects the diverse artists and music that the ROCK & ROLL HALL OF FAME honors and celebrates,” said Chairman JOHN SYKES. “These artists have created their own sounds that have impacted generations and influenced countless others that have followed in their footsteps.”

Fans can vote through APRIL 28th at vote.rockhall.com or in person at the CLEVELAND museum. Inductees will be announced in MAY, and the induction ceremony will take place in the FALL.

The RECORDING ACADEMY has unveiled a diverse lineup of presenters for SUNDAY's 65th GRAMMY AWARDS, including First Lady JILL BIDEN. Also named as presenters were CARDI B, JAMES CORDEN, BILLY CRYSTAL, VIOLA DAVIS, DWAYNE JOHNSON, OLIVIA RODRIGO, and SHANIA TWAIN.

Previously announced as performers for the awards event include BAD BUNNY, MARY J. BLIGE, BRANDI CARLILE, LUKE COMBS, STEVE LACY, LIZZO, KIM PETRAS, SAM SMITH, and HARRY STYLES.

Skyview Networks Issues Statement About Outages

As of last night, SKYVIEW NETWORKS was still experiencing outages that affect CBS NEWS RADIO and ABC NEWS RADIO affiliates as well as affiliates for some of the company's other syndicated shows.

The issue, which prevented affiliates from accessing live audio and spots via XDS, arose on MONDAY morning, when affiliates were told of the outages and advised to obtain newscasts via alternate means, indicated its system was hacked.

The company released the following statement late yesterday afternoon:

Ozzy Osbourne Retires From Touring

OZZY OSBOURNE has cancelled scheduled shows and has announced his retirement from touring. The 74-year-old former front man for BLACK SABBATH pointed to his failing health for the announcement.

OSBOURNE, a GRAMMY winner as a solo artist and with BLACK SABBATH, was to begin a farewell tour in EUROPE and the U.K. in MAY 2023.

BEYONCÉ has announced plans for her RENAISSANCE WORLD TOUR, kicking off MAY 10th in STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN and swinging to NORTH AMERICA with a stop at ROGERS CENTRE in TORONTO on JULY 8th. The tour will hit the U.S. on JULY 12 at LINCOLN FINANCIAL FIELD in PHILADELPHIA and concludes in NEW ORLEANS at the CAESARS SUPERDOME on SEPTEMBER 27.

This is BEYONCÉ's first world tour since 2018's ON THE RUN II tour with husband JAY-Z.

Radio Hall Of Fame Accepting Nominations For Class Of 2023 Through March 31st

The RADIO HALL OF FAME is now accepting nominations for its 2023 induction class. Nominations can be submitted to the RADIO HALL OF FAME Nominating Committee through MARCH 31st at radiohalloffame.com/nominate; 24 names will be selected as nominees, with voting and induction taking place later this year.

Co-Chairman DENNIS GREEN said, "It is an honor to oversee the process of selecting the legendary men and women that have made radio the great medium it is today. Radio is special to millions of listeners from coast to coast and the RADIO HALL OF FAME looks forward to receiving the suggestions of names to consider for the ultimate honor our industry has to bestow.”

The Gathering Announces Move To Las Vegas For 2023

THE GATHERING 2023 is moving to downtown LAS VEGAS on APRIL 26-28. After the first four years in LOUISVILLE and last year in CLEVELAND, the sixth annual Alternative event is relocating to the SIN CITY this spring.

SXM Media/Edison Research/Mindshare Black Podcast Listener Report Shows Continued Growth

SXM MEDIA, EDISON RESEARCH, and MINDSHARE's second annual Black Podcast Listener Report shows increasing Black podcast listenership and strong brand loyalty towards podcast advertisers.

The study notes, among many other highlights, that 43% of Black Americans listened to a podcast in the last month, up from 36% in 2021 (and 55% are women, although men are 52% of weekly listeners, indicating that they may listen more often); 78% said they would purchase a product advertised on a podcast; and 43% listened to Self-Care podcasts while 41% listened to podcasts about social/racial injustice cases, with podcasts on Personal Development and ... more »

Matt Pincus' MUSIC Makes 'A Significant Investment' In Atlanta-Based LVRN

The MATT PINCUS-helmed MUSIC has made what it calls "a significant minority investment" in ATLANTA-based music company LVRN (LOVE RENAISSANCE), which BLOOMBERG sets at "more than $25 million."

The investment – which values the company at over $100 million, giving them a 25% share, according to MUSIC BUSINESS WORLDWIDE – will provide growth capital for LVRN to build capacity in its existing businesses as well as “unlock strategic expansion opportunities”.

Former SANTA MONICA COLLEGE Non-Commercial KCRW/SANTA MONICA-LOS ANGELES PD GARY ROBERT SCOTT has launched a new project with bassist JERRY FLANAGAN. The new group SAVAGE ANIMALS released their debut single, “Playthings,” on FRIDAY (1/27). 

SCOTT currently runs a successful podcast production company and, at the request of FLANAGAN, got serious about writing music while in the confines of the pandemic.

"Writing for me was a way to stay in touch with the outside world. My first album was all outburst - I had all this stuff stored up inside and had to give it a voice. But I was unsure of the proper format to put it in,” SCOTT said. “SAVAGE ANIMALS is me finding my form. Form lets the listener know how to let the melody and lyrics inside so they make the song their own.”

SCOTT and FLANAGAN will release their self-titled album, SAVAGE ANIMALS, later this year. Songs on the deal with second chances, self sabotage, and the death of SCOTT’s childhood friend.
